Comprehensive Trauma and Attachment Assessments
At Lori Gill Psychotherapy Inc, we offer comprehensive assessments that range in intensity from preliminary assessments to comprehensive trauma assessments. These servies are accessed by parents, caregivers, and other professionals seeking to understand the impact trauma or attachment has had on a child, youth, or adult or by those seeking a comprehensive assessment for court related purposes (often requested by lawyers).
Assessments utilize formal standrdized assessment tools as well as various psychosocial measures and assess the impact of trauma on executive functioning, affect regulation, self-concept, insight / introspection, social engagement, and intellectual functioning. Our staff have specialized training in the areas of attachment, emotional regulation, sensory intervention, and trauma intervention. We are aware that many symptoms resulting from trauma can be manifested and present as other disorders (such as oppositional behaviour, attention concerns, affect dysregulation, aggression etc.) and can affect various domains including affect (hypervigilance, dissociation, withdrawn presentations), sleeping difficulties, depression, and significant mood swings. However, these symptoms may not always be readily apparent. Early identification of child trauma can minimize psychological and physiological risk to children.
The goal of assessments completed through our centre is to assess the impact of trauma or attachment dysregulation on the individual and to provide recommendations for treatment, regulation, and healing. Recommendations include those to promote regulation, enhance learning, and reduce the impact of trauma and attachment dysregulation experiences on the child, youth, or adult being assessed based on their unique needs.
For full-scale comprehensive assessment the rate is $2,500 - $3,500 and would require approximately 1 - 1.5 days to administer depending on the pacing of the client.
If you have any questions or would like to schedule an assessment please contact [email protected] or by phone at (905) 684-93333.
