Maycourt Club Provides Funding for Waitlist Management Trauma Focused Skills Group
ATTCH Niagara is pleased to share that we have received funding from the Maycourt Club to allow us to continue to run our Trauma-Focused Skills Group for clients on our waitlist. This program, originally added through the support of United Way Niagara in response to COVID-19, has been an important addition in that it allows us to teach emotional regulation skills and resources to clients awaiting trauma therapy. Feedback from clients and therapists is that this has been quite helpful however we do not have a regular finding source for this so are most grateful for Maycourt Club's support!
Niagara Falls Sunrise Rotary Provides Funding to Support Niagara Falls Trauma Therapy
We have been providing therapy in Niagara Falls for the past year to reduce transportation barriers and make services more accessible to clients with complex mental health needs. Funding for this initiative was initially provided by the Sleep Cheap Initiative and has been very well received. As the funding has been used up we are grateful for contributions that allow us to continue to provide services in the community. These outreach based locations also offer waitlist free services as we are able to, in collaboration with referring comity partners, prioritize clients determined to be most in need and get them the help they need sooner and in a more accessible manner. We are also grateful for Niagara Falls Community Health Centre’s generous provision of space which allows these services to be provided closer to where these clients are located. Funds contributed such as those through Niagara Falls Sunrise Rotary Club allow us to keep programs like this running enabling us to meet more complex needs in a more timely manner. We thank you for your generosity and support!
ATTCH Niagara Receives Funding support from Niagara Community Foundation David S Howes Fund to Provide Waitlist Neurofeedback and Staff Wellness Neurofeedback Sessions
ATTCH Niagara gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the David S. NCF connects donors to communities and charities to resources through permanent endowment funds, providing grants to eligible charitable organizations in culture, health education, environment, recreation and social service sectors. NCF turns intention into impact. ATTCH Niagara is grateful to announce that we have received funding to support to reducing harm associated with long wait times for mental health therapy and promoting therapist wellness. This funding provides a full-time neurofeedback practitioner position to allow clients on our waitlist access to neurofeedback while awaiting therapy and also provides access to neurofeedback for our therapists and staff to promote wellness and prevent burnout. We are so grateful for this funding support and look forward to reviewing the results post-implementation. Below Sam, one of our neurofeedback practitioners, shares a little about her experience providing neurofeedback at our Annual General Meeting (AGM).

ATTCH Niagara Receives Funding support from the Ontario Trillium Foundation
The Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing (ATTCH) Niagara is pleased to announce that we received a Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to hire a marketing coordinator and increase our Clinical Director's hours.
One of the goals of this grant is to create marketing materials and resources that will help ATTCH Niagara to have an established brand and an increased and more broadly known presence within the Niagara Region. The other goal was to provide increased staff support by increasing our clinical directors hours to allow for increased supervision, mentorship and training of staff and students to promote wellness and prevent burnout and compassion fatigue.
At ATTCH Niagara we do important but complex work and helping the broader community to become more aware of the work we do and also supporting our therapists in wellness are goals that are pivotal to our continued success. Thank you to the Ontario Trillium Foundation for their generosity in helping to promote resilient communities!

ATTCH Niagara Receives Funding from Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) Rotary for the purchase of a Neurofeedback Machine
The NOTL Rotary club recently donated $15,000 to @attchniagara to purchase a Neurofeedback machine to help with mental health treatment for people who can not afford it and need support.💙
NOTL Rotary had this to say: "Our club is proud to help in this area. Mental health services are severely lacking and we are happy to help people, who otherwise would not get services, get the help they desperately need. ATTCH Niagara is doing incredible work and we know this will alleviate a lot of suffering and offer hope to many recipients".
We are so grateful to NOTL Rotary Club for their generous donation which will allow us to provide neurofeedback, a non-invasive approach to rebalancing the brain, mind and body. We anticipate this powerful treatment approach will accelerate treatment gains and directly impact the mental and physical health of the clients we support. Neurofeedback is an evidence-based treatment approach that is safe and non-invasive. This form of treatment is highly effective yet also generally expensive making it inexcesible to those with limited resources. Thanks to the generosity of NOTL Rotary Clubs we will be able to make this available to ATTCH Niagara clients.

ATTCH Niagara is grateful to announce that we have received funding from the United Way Niagara which will allow us to launch a new waitlist management program to support clients awaiting treatment and a new aftercare program to support clients who have completed treatment transition out of therapy.
The waitlist management group will be an ongoing open group available to waitlist and current clients that would offer weekly skills building sessions focusing on teaching core grounding, stabilization, containment, and resource installation skills. Although the majority of stabilization occurs through the treatment itself, we do anticipate this will allow clients to come a little bit more grounded into treatment and provide them some resources to utilize as they are waiting for therapy and help some of our more complex clients in active treatment receive some additional support to reinforce / supplement their healing.
We have also identified a need for an after care transitionary support as we are approaching treatment completion and following treatment completion. The goal of this aftercare program would be to provide additional supports focused on connecting to community (resources available, other clients who have completed healing); increasing embodied awareness, deepening connection to and awareness of sense of self (discovery of who they are in absence of their trauma through providing exposure to self care practices such as music therapy, expressive arts, yoga, dance and movement, mindfulness, meditation, neurofeedback, somatic awareness training, bio feedback, general interest activities etc).
We are so very grateful to be able to provide these much needed services and thank United Way Niagara for providing the funding that will allow us to do so!

St. Catharines, ON – In 2021, Attachment and Trauma Treatment Centre for Healing (ATTCH) Niagara received a $39,000 Resilient Communities Fund grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation to help rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19. This funding allowed ATTCH Niagara to install two openable windows, providing fresh air and improving circulation in counselling offices for the comfort and safety of clients and staff. Many of ATTCH Niagara’s clients have required in person sessions during the pandemic as they do not have access to technology, internet or a safe private space to meet. This renovation allows clients and therapists to conduct their sessions safely, even amidst the pandemic.
“I believe firmly that mental health is health care, so I take great pleasure in seeing the province financially support an organization that helps bridge community members affected by trauma with services to support them,” said St. Catharines MPP Jennie Stevens. “This work is important because it creates spaces that provide support for individuals to rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID-19 and beyond.”
This support from OTF also helped ATTCH recover from the impacts of COVID-19 by supporting staffing costs, providing access to secure tele-health platforms, and rejuvenating wellness programs with online wellness resources for staff and therapists. ATTCH Niagara is very thankful for the Ontario Trillium Foundation’s support and is pleased to let supporters, staff and clients know about this generosity in our communications.
ATTCH Niagara’s Board Chairperson, Gail Richardson, said, “the support of the Ontario Trillium Foundation, especially for a new organization like ours which has seen dramatically increased referrals due to COVID-19, has provided a significant benefit for marginalized people in Niagara who are experiencing complex mental health issues.”
ATTCH Niagara’s mission is to provide free and low-cost, attachment and trauma-specialized therapy in a safe, structured manner to disadvantaged individuals and families to promote better mental health. Their vision is to promote health through the provision of free and low cost attachment and trauma specialized treatment with a focus on holistic wellness and preventative care (early intervention) to facilitate healing.
The Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF) is an agency of the Government of Ontario, and one of Canada’s leading granting foundations. Last year, nearly $112M was invested into 1,384 community projects and partnerships to build healthy and vibrant communities and strengthen the impact of Ontario’s non‐profit sector. In 2020/21, OTF supported Ontario’s economic recovery by helping non‐profit organizations rebuild and recover from the impacts of COVID‐19. Visit otf.ca to learn more.

Thank you to Victoria Dobson for completing a program evaluation of our Integrative Trauma and Attachment Model (ITATM) ®. Thank you also to Dr. Paul Frewen, Western University Hospital for acting as our consultant / principal investigator. The results reviewed the progress of 50 adult clients. A variety of standardized measures were used to evaluate change. Overall the findings demonstrated clinically and statistically significant changes. This is not to say everyone is fully recovered at the completion of treatment as we are working with complex trauma and as such there are no easy solutions. However these are outcomes that are very realistic of a complex trauma population and demonstrate that there is benefit to the treatment being offered.
