Custom Training Available in Your Area!
ATTCH receives a lot of requests for training in other areas. This is something that we do regularly! Custom training or certification training are available in your area for groups of all sizes. For certification training if you have a group (usually 8-10 people) interested in certification you can design your own training by choosing the core training and supplementary workshops to meet your training needs. Agency and individual training rates available. This often works out to be an economic option as participants save on travel and accommodation costs. Contact [email protected] for further details.
Clinical Supervision and Case Consultation: The ability to remain present and attuned to our clients at a right-brain to right-brain level is a powerful therapeutic process. However, the ability to consistently do so stems from our own wellness. Supervision is a process that allows for growth, awareness, atonement, and space needed to be intentional and mindful in our day-to-day work. ATTCH provides clinical supervision and case consultation services to a wide variety of professionals. These services are available in-person or remotely (telephonic, via Skype, and FaceTime). Supervision with ATTCH allows for application of trauma-informed practice that incorporates a wide variety of research-informed techniques and approaches to help promote therapeutic presence, regulation, authenticity, empowerment, and healing of the helper as well as those they are working with through informing their approach.

Learning about how trauma impacts functioning.
Case conceptualization was fantastic. I wish so much we had access to your level of knowledge around trauma and how/what we need to support children.
My clients (adolescents with severe trauma history) tend to struggle with “traditional” mindfulness—especially body-focused/breath/focused. Looking for possible examples.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise on sensory integration. I will be incorporating this in to my practice.
Validity trauma informed CBT is not the preferred treatment approach with kids who have experienced trauma, this needs to be more reinforced.
It was all excellent, especially newest research and case examples.

I learned the importance of asking someone if they are considering suicide and that asking the question will not put the idea in their mind.

Evidence Based Trauma Intervention Training
Please find attached information regarding an upcoming evidence-based trauma intervention training hosted by Community Living Port Colborne. Presentations will provide insight around trauma symptoms and differential diagnosis (such as grief, ADHD, and oppositional behaviours) as well as insight into SAMHSA approved evidence based training in structured sensory intervention. Learn about the impact that trauma has on our brain, body, and behaviours inclusive of impact on implicit and explicit memory. Learn why cognitive-based interventions can be limited in their effectiveness for trauma intervention and how to implement trauma informed services within your organization.
Please note: although the workshop is called Children in Trauma, it applies to all ages, a foundational understanding of how trauma impacts allows clinicians working with adults to understand why behaviours, symptoms, experiences etc happen the way they do. Trauma often occurs in childhood and this workshop will inform professionals about the impact this trauma experience(s) can have on future behavior, emotions, as well as psychological, physiological, and neurological functioning. I have used the children’s programs for a few years now with great success with ages 2 – 17. Video-taped interviews will demonstrate how TLC’s evidence-based, structured sensory intervention process brings children relief from the terror of their traumatic experiences. This structured process is used in schools and agencies across the country and has been proven, via research, to reduce trauma-specific reactions across all three major sub-categories.

The presenter engages attendees in an encapsulated demonstration of the major sensory structured processes. This workshop will identify warning signs and high risk factors leading to non-fatal and fatal suicides including characteristics that contribute to risk, recognizing invitations, specific interventions strategies and skills including legal responsibilities, and assessment of risk and what is necessary to help prevent contagion following a fatal suicide. Revised interventions and treatment information that is directly applicable to a broad array of helping professionals and target populations (children to seniors). Interventions for specialized fields (schools, hospitals, community agencies) focusing on prevention, intervention, and treatment will also be provided.
The Critical Incident Stress Foundation (CCISF) will be holding a conference in Niagara Falls from September 18 - 21, 2012. This is a National conference bringing together professionals with an interest in critical incident stress management. To learn more or register visit:

Working in a helping profession can be a very rewarding, yet it is also one that can be emotionally and physically draining. Preventing Compassion Fatigue: Self-Care for Helpers will focus on raising awareness about compassion fatigue and its symptoms as well as prevention techniques through professional and personal self-care. This workshop will review signs and symptoms of compassion fatigue along with prevention and self-care strategies. Unique issues will also be discussed inclusive of working with vulnerable sectors, at risk youth, and hard to serve populations.
